Zallaf reports 1,500 bpd output at new Oil Field

Al-Disa in the Murzuq Basin

Libya’s Zallaf Oil and Gas Company has launched production at the Al-Shadar oil field, extracting 1,500 barrels of crude oil and 7.5 million cubic feet of natural gas per day from its initial well.

The state-owned company began operations at well A1/A in the NC-126 concession area of the Sirte Basin, marking the latest development in Libya’s National Oil Corporation’s efforts to expand energy production.

“This is a milestone achievement for our national energy sector,” Zallaf officials said in a statement. The new production comes as Libya seeks to rebuild its oil industry, a critical source of revenue for the North African nation’s economic recovery.

The Al-Shadar field, situated south-east of Ajdabiya, represents one of several new developments in Libya’s largest oil-producing region, the Sirte Basin.
