Voters’ registration for Libya’s elections extended till mid-February
Libya’s High National Elections Commission announced on Thursday that the voter registration for the upcoming elections has been extended until mid-February.
“The number of voters registered so far reflected awareness of Libyans of the importance of embracing the elections as a genuine democratic choice,” Emad Al-Sayeh, chairman of the Commission, said in a press conference in the capital Tripoli.
“We decided to extend the registration process until February 15, in order to provide the biggest opportunity for those who failed to register in the next historic event,” Al-Sayeh added.
According to statistics issued by the Commission, 2,267,000 voters have already beer registered so far.
On December 6, 2017, the Commission opened a two-month registration for voters inside Libya.
