UNSMIL: Only Libyans can choose sovereign posts’ incumbents
The United Nations Support Mission (UNSMIL) has reaffirmed that only Libyans are entitled to decide who can or cannot run for sovereign positions, via the existing constitutional and legislative bodies in the country.
The UNSMIL tweeted Thursday that the right to be nominated for a potential candidate in the upcoming elections in Libya is a domestic issue that must be characterized by an elections law.
“We are only here to support the country in order to guarantee credible and legal electoral process.” The UNSMIL added on Twitter.
