UNSMIL and Presidential Council urge for release of kidnapped political activist
The Head of the UNSMIL, Martin Kobler, has denounced the abduction of the Libyan political activist Salah Al-Bakoush, who was kidnapped from his neighbourhood in Hay Dimashiq, Tripoli, last Friday.
Kobler tweeted on Tuesday that he joins the Presidential Council in their demand for the immediate release of Al-Bakoush.
Earlier, the Presidential Council of the UN-backed government issued a statement denouncing and condemning the act of kidnapping Al-Bakoush and calling on those who abducted him to free him immediately.
Likewise, the Tripoli-based rival Salvation Government issued a statement on Tuesday and said it had nothing to do with the abduction, refuting the allegations and accusations by many parties that it was behind Al-Bakoush’s kidnap.
