UNHCR: Over 57.000 migrants and refugees registered in Libya
UNHCR said on Monday that as of 26 November 2018, a total of 57,354 asylum seekers and refugees are registered with UNHCR in Libya.
“A total of 3,572 individuals have been identified by UNHCR and its partners to be currently in one of the accessible Libyan detention centres.” A statement by UNHCR explained.
UNHCR added that since the start of the evacuation operation from Libya in late 2017, a total of 2,476 persons (including unaccompanied children) have been evacuated to Niger (2,069), Italy (312) and the ETC Romania (95).
“There are 259 evacuated unaccompanied children remaining in Niger.” The statement reads.
