UN Libya mission launches reconciliation media campaign
The Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Libya, Stephanie Williams, launched a media campaign of reconciliation and peace in Libya on Monday.
According to the UNSMIL, Williams has launched a nationwide media campaign Al-Solh Kheir/Peace is Good in Tripoli, backed by UNSMIL, UNDP Libya and international donors, and featuring Libya Space with the aim of promoting the importance of dialogue, local reconciliation agreements and social cohesion in the country.
Williams said by using media, this campaign aims to contribute to the fight against hate speech, promote national identity, democratic values and create a culture of reconciliation, understanding, tolerance and respect.
Reconciliation efforts have been very successful in bridging the gap among conflicting parties, cities, communities and tribes across Libya, especially the latest agreements between Zintan and Misurata, and Misurata and Tawergha.
