UN envoy to Libya says National Conference in mid-April in Ghadames
The Head of the UNSMIL Ghassan Salame said Wednesday in a press conference in Tripoli that the Libyan National Conference (Multaqa Watani) is going to be held in Ghadames on April 14-16.
Salame told reporters that the National Conference won’t exclude any Libyan party unless the parties decide not to attend.
He added that there could be about 120 to 150 attendees and they all will be Libyans; no foreign parties will be attending the conference.
Salame also indicated that the Multaqa Watani will discuss all controversial matters so Libyans can decide what the next step will be and the UN as well as the international community is going to protect the choices made by them in the conference.
He stressed that there’s no military solution in Libya, but also a political one through dialogue and unity.
