UN envoy to Libya discusses deescalation with Head of HCS
The United Nations envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame met Tuesday with the Head of the High Council of State Khalid Al-Mishri in Tripoli.
According to a statement by the UNSMIL on its Facebook page, Salame had briefed Al-Mishri on his visits to a number of capitals to rebuild some consensus on Libya.
Al-Mishri and Salame also discussed the latest developments, deescalation and reviving the political track.
The HCS has been vocal since the start of Khalifa Haftar’s offensive on Tripoli that no political solution can be reached without reshuffling the bodies involved so that the ones committing war crimes and without the return of Haftar’s forces to their previous positions.
