UK ambassador to Libya calls for peaceful power handover to Presidential Council
The British ambassador to Libya, Peter Millett, said that it is important that he Skhirat Political agreement should be implemented precisely, encouraging the UN-backed Presidential Council to keep up the good work in Tripoli.
In a statement on Sky News Arabia Thursday, the British ambassador called for a peaceful handover of power in Libya, pointing out that a meeting by UNSMIL and high officials will take place next week in Tunisia and will focus on coordinating the international support to make it go in line with the priorities of the Government of National Accord.
“Tobruk Parliament is the only legitimate body in Libya and I encourage them to hold a vote of confidence to approve the GNA as soon as possible.” Millett indicated.
He added that the UK is ready to work with Libya in fighting terrorism and terror groups like ISIS once the GNA is ready to ask for it.
