Tunisian businessman receives 95-year corruption sentence
A Tunisian court has sentenced businessman Chafik Jarraya to a cumulative 95 years in prison for multiple corruption charges, with five-year terms imposed for each of 19 separate cases.
The Sixth Criminal Chamber of the Tunis Court of First Instance, specialising in financial corruption, delivered the verdict after Jarraya appeared before the court. He faced charges of misusing company representation for personal gain and money laundering.
The court ordered immediate implementation of the sentences and imposed additional financial penalties. Jarraya remains in custody for a separate criminal case.
