Tripoli Salvation Government shuts down Ras Ajdair border with Tunisia
The Director of the Ras Ajdair border with Tunisia, Muhammad Jarafa, said that the Salvation Government ordered the border be closed for the security of the Libyan citizens.
Jarafa explained Monday morning that the Tunisian people in Ben Gardane border town did not allow Libyans to pass through the border, calling for releasing three of their townsmen who are charged with bribery and smuggling in Libya.
He confirmed that the SG decided to shut down the border on Sunday without specifying a date for reopening it, pointing out that Ben Gardane citizens demanded allowing them to trade fuel products and other parallel tradings.
“Tunisian Customs can’t impose tariffs on the Ben Gardane people, while they are already imposing big tariffs on Libyans.” Jarafa concluded.
