Tripoli Revolutionaries Brigade tells GNA Foreign Minister to resign over Haftar statement
The Tripoli Revolutionaries Brigade, which is led by Haithem Al-Tajouri, has issued a statement denouncing and criticizing the statements of the Foreign Minister of the Government of National Accord, Mohammed Sayala, and called on him to resign.
Sayala told reporters in Algeria on Monday that Khalifa Haftar, the eastern self-styled chief of army, is the commander of the Libyan National Army and will remain so, despite the fact that Haftar is against the GNA and the Libyan Political Agreement that was signed in Skhirat in December 2015.
The statements of Sayala caused a wave of outrage in Libya and on social media with many parties and activists calling on Sayala to step down and leave his post, as his words of praise to Haftar are not favored for most Libyans.
Likewise, the High Council of State denounced the statements and called them irresponsible calling on the Presidential Council to clarify its stance from those statements.
