The Netherlands signs agreement to support elections in Libya
The ambassador of the Netherlands to Libya signed an agreement with UNDP Representative Maria Ribeiro at the UNSMIL offices, to support the Libyan High National Elections Commission (HNEC).
A post on the embassy of the Netherlands Facebook page said “ for elections to be free and fair, certain technical, political and security conditions have to be met. That is not yet the case. Libya needs to work on meeting these conditions and the Netherlands is ready to support”.
The post emphasized that backing this project does not suggest Dutch support for elections in Libya at short notice.
