The European Union confirms its continued support for Libya in several areas
The European Union confirms its support for Libya in the upcoming elections and rebuilding the country after ten years of conflict
The Acting President of the Presidential Council, Musa Al-Koni, met in Tripoli the capital, the European Union Ambassador to Libya, José Sabadell, and the head of the European Union mission, Natalina Cea and their accompanying delegation.
Al-Koni stressed the need for the Mission to cooperate with the High Electoral Commission to ensure the success of the electoral process for the December 24 elections later this year.
Al-Koni welcomed the return of (EUBAM) from within Tripoli, noting the importance of cooperation with the European Union in border management and the need to control the flow of migrants, counter-terrorism, continued logistical support, the rehabilitation of the elements responsible for its protection, and the importance of the Mission’s presence in the Libyan south.
The Presidential Council member also referred to steps taken by the Presidential Council with regard to national reconciliation that would pave the way for the electoral procedure, according to him.
For their part, the European officials have confirmed the continued support of the Union and EUBAM for Libya, in many areas, in particular border management.
