Systematic abuse cases reported from Libyan immigrants’ shelter centers
The migrants, who are sheltered in the migration centers in Libya are being faced with systematic abuse and human rights violations, according to the German newspaper, Die Welt.
The newspaper cited the German Embassy in Nigeria as saying that several executions of migrants were committed in the Libyan migrants’ shelter centers.
“Eyewitnesses told the report writers that five executions were conducted in one shelter center alone.” Die Welt indicated.
According to the German paper, the German report included footage and documentation videos taken on personal mobile phones showing conditions similar to those of the detentions run by smugglers.
Reuters said that the German report was discussed before the meeting of the EU leaders in Malta, which is scheduled this week to discuss the possible solutions for ending the illegal migration phenomenon from Africa.
The German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, said on Saturday that Europe should work with Libya to control illegal migration, but cannot sign a deal similar to that reached with Turkey last year until political stability is restored in the country.
