Sudan embassy begins registration for nationals wishing to return

The Sudanese embassy in Libya has launched an initial registration process for Sudanese citizens who wish to return to their homeland, prompted by the complex developments in Sudan where conflict has displaced thousands since April 2023.
In an official announcement, the embassy has called on Sudanese nationals residing in Libya to complete a designated registration form, emphasising that this measure represents a preparatory step towards implementing a formal repatriation programme once suitable conditions emerge. The embassy clarified that actual return operations will commence only when circumstances allow for safe transit.
The embassy also expressed optimism regarding the eventual restoration of security and stability in Sudan, commending what it described as victories achieved by the Sudanese Armed Forces and their allied units.
These developments, according to the embassy statement, reinforce hopes for improving conditions and establishing a secure environment that would enable citizens to safely return to their home country.
This registration initiative comes amid the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, which has created a humanitarian crisis and forced many Sudanese to seek refuge in neighbouring countries, including Libya.
The embassy appears to be preparing for a potential large-scale return operation as part of broader efforts to address the needs of Sudanese expatriates affected by the situation in their homeland.
Sudanese citizens in Libya interested in the registration process have been directed to contact the embassy through its official channels for further information and assistance.
