SSA deny reports of military tensions in Tripoli

The Stability Support Apparatus has dismissed reports of military build-up between its forces and the 444th Brigade near Tripoli University on Thursday, describing the incident as a “limited misunderstanding” that was swiftly resolved.

In a statement published on its official Facebook page, the security body explained that a minor dispute between members of both forces was “dealt with quickly and effectively without resorting to any kind of escalation or use of force.”

The incident had prompted increased vehicle and pedestrian movement of both forces in the capital, though the situation was quickly contained, according to local witnesses.

Seeking to calm public concerns, the Apparatus assured Tripoli residents that the security situation remains “completely stable” and emphasised ongoing cooperation between security forces to maintain public safety.

The statement highlighted the “mutual respect” and “joint coordination” that characterise relations between the Stability Support Apparatus and the 444th Brigade leadership, describing their partnership as “working in the spirit of one team.”

SSA also urged media outlets to verify information before publication, warning against reports that might “stir up chaos or inflame situations.”

This incident comes amid continued efforts to maintain security stability in the Libyan capital, where multiple security forces operate under different commands.
