Spokesman of GNA-aligned forces says aware of IS militants’ movement in southern Sirte
The spokesman of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous, Mohammed Al-Ghosri, has stated Tuesday that their troops have detected movements of IS terrorists in southern Sirte and in area between Ajdabiya and Sirte.
Al-Ghosri added in a statement to the press that Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous forces are familiar with the movement of those IS militants.
He also said that failing to reach an agreement by politicians and the lack of official support allowed IS militants to move around easily in Libya.
Earlier, the commander of the Military Intelligence of the central region in Libya, Ismail Al-Shukri, said IS terrorists are moving freely in the area controlled by Operation Dignity militias in southern Sirte.
The forces, mainly brigades from Misrata drove Islamic State from Sirte at the end of last year after a six-month campaign backed by U.S airstrikes. Islamic State took over the city in 2015 taking advantage of Libya’s political chaos.
