Sanalla discusses cooperation with UNDP
At the headquarters of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) in Tripoli, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mustafa Sanalla, hosted the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Marc Andre.
During the meeting, both parties discussed the consolidation of means of joint cooperation to support the oil sector, as well as Sustainable Development Projects that are currently being implemented or completed by the National Oil Corporation in areas adjacent to its operations. Other issues included future plans through cooperation between the two sides to carry out strategic projects related to social responsibility programs and spatial development in the areas of operations through coordination with the Sustainable Development Department of the National Oil Corporation.
The NOC’s future plans were also discussed in detail to introduce renewable and clean energy technologies into it’s future operations, and to benefit from the experiences of the United Nations mission and its previous experiences in other countries.
In this regard, Sanalla provided a full explanation of the current situation of the oil sector, the stages it has gone through over the past years and the difficulties it has faced. Sanalla also described how the oil sector has managed to withstand and overcome all challenges and maintain the continuity and sustainability of production processes and rise to good levels.
Sanalla also added that the NOC and it’s companies are making continuous efforts in all their activities and in various fields of the oil industry, from exploration, drilling, production, manufacturing, marketing and provision of fuel to all Libyan cities. Sanalla added that is is the lack of necessary funds that is preventing it from fulfilling its contractual obligations with its international partners, as well as implementing vital projects in the sector that will contribute significantly to increasing production rates and its sustainability.
For his part, Mr. Mark Andre praised the pioneering and distinguished role that the National Oil Corporation has and continues to play in order to continue production operations, considering oil is the backbone of the Libyan economy and the main supporter of the Libyan state treasury.
