Protecting civilians in armed conflict – Tripoli Call

23 killed in Tripoli as fears grow of a wider war

Tripoli Municipal Council appealed on Saturday to the international community to protect civilians in Libya, calling on the residents of Tripoli to stand united against the encroachments that endanger their lives.

The Tripoli Municipal Council, made the appeal, following reports of casualties among civilians after the renewed violent clashes in a number of neighborhoods of the capital, Tripoli, according to the Tripoli Ambulance and Emergency Service, Saturday morning.

The Municipal Council said in a statement posted on its official Facebook account that the council and the residents of Central Tripoli, hold the Parliament, the High Council of State, the Presidential Council and the two governments responsible for the deteriorating conditions in the capital.

The statement considered the deteriorating situation in the capital was an outcome of bad management of state affairs by the legislative and executive authorities, and due to the desire to remain in power and postpone elections indefinitely.
