The Political Gathering of the Deputies of Misurata (PGDM) issued a statement on Tuesday condemning the clashes of Garabulli, eastern Tripoli, saying the fighting was completely unjustified.
The statement said the fighting that broke out on Sunday is condemned by the PGDM as it led to killing and injuring civilians and to terrifying residents of the district.
“We are completely with the Presidential Council and its forces who managed to deter the attack of the assaulting brigades that were attempting to shake the stability of Tripoli.” The PGDM’s statement reads.
It added that the political entity behind those forces has become isolated locally and internationally and has got not place in the Libyan political or social scene.
Pro-GNA forces and pro-Salvation Government forces from Misurata headed by National Guard forces started fighting in east Tripoli on Sunday over the latter’s attempt to enter Tripoli by force, according to pro-GNA media.
