Misurata rejects military rule, lashes out at UNSMIL’s praise of Haftar
Misurata city has warned of striking deals with whom they described as “war criminal” Khalifa Haftar, lashing out on the UNSMIL for its support for him and commending him in the international circles.
Military council of Misurata, municipal council, and the rest of the city’s components said they disown anyone from their city who makes contact or deals with Haftar, saying he is leading a military coup that aims at ending the Libyans’ aspirations for peace and civilian governance.
The UNSMIL brokered a deal between Haftar and the Head of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sirraj, in the UAE for the need to end transitional phases in Libya via elections and unity of state institutions.
