Martin Kobler bids farewell to Libya and Libyans
The UN delegate to Libya and the Head of the UNSMIL, Martin Kobler, has waved goodbye to the Libyan people, saying it had been an honor for him to be in Libya since November 2015.
Kobler tweeted that it is his honor to have served in Libya as an advocate of peace and security, saying that he loved being among Libyans sharing them their joys and sorrows.
In a video he made as a tribute to Libyans, Kobler said Libyans must continue to preserve their country and love it until they are all united under one inclusive government that can end their suffering.
The UN replaced Kobler last month with a new delegate – the former Lebanese Minister of Culture Ghassan Salame – who will be picking up from where Kobler has left.
