Malta’s Prime Minister Robert Abela urged the withdrawal of foreign forces from Libya and emphasised the full implementation of the Libyan arms embargo, aligning with relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

Speaking at the UN General Assembly debate, Abela highlighted that assisting Libyans in achieving a sustainable solution to their institutional crisis is a top priority for Malta.

He noted that such a resolution would benefit not only Libyans but also neighboring countries and the broader region.

Abela further stated that a unified Libyan government could effectively address the migrant crisis endangering numerous lives.

He underscored the importance of supporting the Libyan-led and Libyan-owned political process for its success.
