Mabruk oilfield flows again
Production has resumed at the Mabruk oil field following a ten-year interruption, marking a significant milestone in Libya’s ongoing efforts to revitalise its energy sector.
Operations officially restarted on 9 March, according to Mabruk Oil Operations Company officials, with initial production volumes reaching 5,000 barrels per day.
The company has outlined ambitious expansion plans, targeting 7,000 barrels daily by month’s end, with further increases projected to reach 25,000 barrels per day by July 2025.
In a promising development for the country’s export capabilities, crude shipments to the Al-Bahi field commenced on Tuesday.
This restart represents an important step in Libya’s broader strategy to rebuild its oil industry, which has weathered significant challenges and disruptions over the past decade.
