Libya’s Mufti warns Syrians about foreign intervention
Libya’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Al-Sadeq Al-Gharyani has issued a warning to the Syrian people regarding financial assistance from regional powers, specifically Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), urging them to consider historical precedents in Egypt and Libya.
During his recent public address, Al-Gharyani made a detailed comparison between Syria’s current circumstances and the political developments that unfolded in Egypt, Libya, and Tunisia. He emphasised the complexities of external influences during periods of political transition in these nations.
The Mufti provided a comprehensive analysis of how various regional actors have influenced Arab political developments, particularly focusing on their impact on electoral processes and subsequent political transformations in Egypt and Libya. He stressed the critical importance of preserving national unity during periods of political change.
Al-Gharyani concluded by strongly encouraging the Syrian people to carefully study and learn from the experiences of their neighbouring Arab states, emphasising the necessity of establishing governance systems that prfioritize and protect their national interests.
