Libya’s eastern parliament names new Central Bank governor
The Tobruk-based House of Representatives (HoR) has voted by 54 members to appoint Mohammed Al-Shukri as the new governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL).
The appointment came in an election session that was held in Tobruk on Tuesday.
Before the appointment passed, many pro-Khalifa Haftar protesters stormed the HoR building in Tobruk and tried to prevent the MPs from entering for the scheduled session.
The protesters wanted to mandate Haftar to rule as President of Libya without any elections and deliberation meetings.
