Libyan Security Director Reported Missing
Brigadier General Mustafa Al-Wahishi, the Security Director of Libya’s Intelligence Service, was reported missing on Wednesday evening by members of the agency.
According to a statement released by his colleagues, Al-Wahishi lost contact after departing his Tripoli office around 9:00 pm local time while traveling to his residence.
The intelligence service members allege in the statement that Al-Wahishi was abducted and hold unspecified “relevant authorities” responsible for his disappearance.
They suggest the incident is connected to ongoing investigations supervised by Al-Wahishi into matters related to national security. However, the statement did not provide further details on the nature or status of these cases.
Attempts to reach Libyan government and law enforcement officials for comment on the situation and any active investigation have not yielded an immediate response. At this time, the claims made in the intelligence service’s statement have not been independently verified.
This remains a developing story, and updates will be provided as additional facts are confirmed. The disappearance of a senior security official raises concerns, but more information is needed to assess the circumstances fully.
