Libyan National Guard positions its forces in downtown Tripoli
The Libyan National Guard of the Salvation Government said it had reopened the roads nearby Riyadiya area in Tripoli’s downtown.
The area saw protests by residents on Thursday. The residents blocked the roads by sand barriers.
The Libyan National Guard also said that its forces positioned themselves in the area as a peacekeeping force to support the security department in there.
The Libyan National Guard was formed in mid-February by the Salvation Government of Khalifa Al-Ghweil, who leads a rival government in Tripoli that doesn’t recognise the Libyan Political Agreement that was signed in Skhirat, Morocco, in December 2015.
