Libyan MP slams UN mission’s proposed committee

Libyan Member of Parliament Mohammed Al-Abani has strongly criticised the UN mission’s potential formation of a committee outside the established framework of Libya’s Constitutional Declaration and its amendments.
Al-Abani described such a move as a “serious violation of the will of the Libyan people,” asserting that the country’s elected institutions are capable of managing affairs without external interference.
In a statement, Al-Abani emphasised the need for strict adherence to the existing Constitutional Declaration and its amendments.
He argued that any involvement by the UN mission beyond this framework constitutes a clear overstepping of its assigned mandate.
The MP’s comments come amid ongoing discussions about the UN’s role in facilitating stability and political progress in Libya.
