Libyan MP kidnapped by Haftar’s forces in Benghazi
The member of the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) Siham Sirgiwa has been reportedly kidnapped by gunmen from Khalifa Haftar’s forces in Benghazi and led to an unidentified location.
Sources close to the MP told local media that the gunmen stormed Sirgiwa’s house and shot her husband, who was sent to the hospital for treatment.
Many social media pages reported that the gunmen burnt the house and kidnapped both the MP and her daughter after firing gunshots at her husband.
Sirgiwa has been vocal in her rejection to the military operations in Tripoli and of violations of Haftar’s forces in different areas.
She appeared on Tuesday on Haftar-loyal Alhadath TV Channel and said some words against the rhetoric of Haftar’s staunch followers, which some observers say could be the reason why she got punished by Haftar’s loyalists.
