Libyan eastern strongman Haftar attends Dubai Airshow
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, met with Libyan military leader Khalifa Haftar yesterday.
“During the meeting, which was held at the Dubai Airshow, the two sides discussed the brotherly relations between the UAE and Libya and means of enhancing them in various fields for the benefit of both countries and peoples,” the agency said.
Haftar is visiting the UAE to attend the 2017 Dubai Air Show, which kicked off yesterday with the participation of about 1,200 exhibitors from 63 countries and continues for four days.
This is Haftar’s third visit to the UAE in six months, following a visit last July when he held talks with Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Zayed and a visit in early May, during which he met with the President of the Presidential Council of the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) Fayez Al-Sarraj to resolve the Libyan crisis.
It is unknown when Haftar arrived in the UAE or how long he will remain in the country.
Haftar and his “Libyan National Army” stands in opposition to the government in Libya’s western city of Tripoli, the Government of National Accord, which is officially recognised and backed by the United Nations.
