The commander of Operation Dignity in eastern Libya, Khalifa Haftar said his self-styled national army is now in control of most parts of the country.

Only a few areas remain outside of their control, Haftar added on Saturday in a speech to security and military officials in Benghazi.

“Libya’s area is 1,760,000 km and the army is currently in control of 1,730,000 km, there’s only a little left.” He explained.

Haftar also said that his forces are now in control of the area west of Tripoli from Zuwara city to Tunisia’s border with Libya in Ras Ajdair, adding that they are advancing to Al-Zawiya city, which is located 30 km west of the capital, Tripoli.

“In the next few days, Al-Zawiya will also be under our control.” He added.
