Libyan coastguards rescue 62 EU-bound migrants off the coast
Libyan coast guards on Saturday rescued 62 illegal immigrants off the country’s western coast, said the Libyan anti-illegal immigration department.
The statement said that a coast guard’s patrol rescued 62 illegal immigrants on a rubber boat that broke down at sea.
The rescued immigrants are of different African and Asian nationalities, according to the statement.
The immigrants have been sent to Tripoli naval base and then to Tripoli anti-illegal immigrants division.
On Friday , Libyan coastguards intercepted over 70 migrants off the coast of Tripoli and returned back ashore.
