Libyan buyers join Qatar’s Souq Waqif truffle auction

Truffle auction at Souq Waqif, Qatar

Qatar’s second annual Souq Waqif truffle auction has attracted international buyers, including those from Libya and Yemen, according to Al Raya newspaper.

The eastern square event has gained attention for its competitive prices and high-quality offerings.

The auction concluded its first batch of Algerian “Zubaidi” and “Khalas” truffles yesterday, with new shipments expected in coming days. A three-kilogram box reached 1,350 Qatari riyals (equivalent in relevant currency), attracting both retail and wholesale buyers.

The daily auction, launched last week, has drawn significant attendance from local residents, traders and tourists. All available quantities were sold by week’s end, the Qatari newspaper reported.
