Libyan Army forces seize major parts of Tripoli Airport, toughen fighting against Haftar’s forces
The Libyan Army forces operating under the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) entered Tripoli International Airport and advanced on positions held by rival forces under the command of Khalifa Haftar.
The spokesman for the media office of Burkan Al-Ghadab (Volcano of Rage) Operation Mustafa Al-Majye said Saturday that their forces had advanced on Tripoli Airport from three fighting axes.
The spokesman added that the majority of the airport was controlled by the Libyan Army forces under GNA’s command but the full control and defeat of Khalifa Haftar’s forces would be announced soon when the operation is complete.
Tripoli has been under attack by Haftar’s forces since April 04, when he launched an offensive to take power and marginalize the UN-backed Government of National Accord as well as its legitimate institutions.
