Libya Launches National Muscular Dystrophy Program
Libya’s Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dabaiba has authorised the creation of a National Program for Muscular Dystrophy Patients, aimed at streamlining patient care and medication distribution across the country.
The initiative will establish a centralised system to identify patients and allocate treatment resources based on healthcare priorities, according to the government decree.
A specialised committee, chaired by Ahmed Shlibak, will oversee the program. The committee includes representatives from key government bodies, including the health and social affairs ministries.
Key responsibilities of the committee include:
– Developing and implementing the national program
– Creating mechanisms for patient data management
– Monitoring cases to ensure consistent medical care
– Coordinating sustainable medicine supply
The decree mandates cooperation between the Ministry of Health’s technical departments, the Therapeutic Services Support and Development Agency, and other relevant authorities to support the program’s implementation.
Prime Minister Dabaiba pledged to provide additional governmental support through future policy decisions based on the committee’s recommendations.
These measures aim to improve medical planning accuracy and ensure equitable distribution of medications throughout Libya.
This program represents a significant development in Libya’s healthcare policy, particularly for those affected by muscular dystrophy.
The implementation timeline and specific budget allocation details have not yet been announced.
