Libya food expo draws record global turnout

The four-day event features 91 Libyan companies alongside 130 international exhibitors

Libya’s largest food industry showcase opened Monday, drawing together more than 220 companies from 16 countries amid efforts to bolster international trade partnerships.

Economy and Trade Minister Mohammed Al-Huweij presided over the inauguration of the sixth Libya Food Exhibition at the Tripoli International Fair grounds, joined by senior government officials and members of the diplomatic corps.

The four-day event has attracted major food manufacturers and equipment suppliers from across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. International participants include firms from Germany, France, Italy and Turkey, alongside regional players from Egypt, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates.

“This exhibition represents a crucial platform for advancing Libya’s food sector,” Al-Huweij said during the opening ceremony.

The showcase features 91 Libyan companies alongside 130 international exhibitors, displaying the latest in food products, packaging solutions and industrial equipment. Industry specialists say the strong turnout signals growing international interest in Libya’s consumer market.

The exhibition runs through Wednesday and aims to facilitate business partnerships whilst highlighting investment opportunities in Libya’s food manufacturing sector, according to organisers.
