The deputy head of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord (GNA) Fathi Al-Mijibri, has criticised the conflicting statements of the Head of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Serraj, and his Foreign Minister, Mohammed Sayala, about allowing Italian military troops to position a naval mission in Libya.

Al-Mijibri said in a statement on Friday that he condemns in the strongest terms the violation of Libyan sovereignty that was triggered by the acts of Al-Serraj and Sayala highhandedly.

“The actions of Al-Serraj and his foreign minister only speak for them and no the whole Presidential Council membership, that is hy we call on Italy to immediately withdraw its vessels and stop the violation of Libya’s sovereignty.” Al-Mijibri added.

He also said that Italy should respect the international laws and conventions and pull out its troops, urging all Libyan national forces and military to take a stance against the Italian violation of Libya’s sovereignty.
