Italy confirms support for Libya on migration issue

Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi has announced that Italy, in cooperation with France, is supporting a Libyan project aimed at providing dedicated housing, healthcare, and educational facilities for migrants, separate from local populations, to improve migrant conditions within Libya.
Piantedosi affirmed that this project reflects mutual understanding and shared interests between the Libyan people and migrants. He emphasised that it demonstrates the strength of humanitarian connections between both sides and confirms there is no threat to migrants within Libyan territory.
“If this project is successfully implemented, Libyans will be granted their full rights, visas between Libya and Italy will be abolished, and we will continue our support for Libya until complete stability is achieved in the country,” added Piantedosi.
This initiative comes amid ongoing efforts to address migration challenges in the Mediterranean region, as both European and North African nations seek sustainable solutions to irregular migration flows.
