HoR receives 174.1B dinar 2025 budget

Libya’s House of Representatives Speaker Aguila Saleh has received a draft for a “unified general budget” for 2025 from Prime Minister-designate Osama Hamad, marking a potential step towards financial consolidation in the divided nation.
The proposed budget, totalling 174.1 billion Libyan dinars (approximately $33.7 billion), will be presented to MPs for formal discussion in the presence of Central Bank of Libya officials, according to a statement from the Speaker’s media office.
“This comprehensive budget covers public expenditures across all state sectors and is designed to enhance transparency, rationalise spending, and properly frame the Central Bank’s operations within existing financial legislation,” the statement said.
The House of Representatives has scheduled a sitting for Tuesday to discuss recent Central Bank decisions regarding the exchange rate, a move that comes amid ongoing economic challenges in the country.
The Central Bank has consistently called for swift approval of a “balanced unified budget” for 2025, emphasising the importance of regular oil revenue deposits and adherence to transparency principles.
