Heavy clashes sweep through Libya’s capital, Tripoli
Heavy clashes with heavy and medium weapons were reported by local media sources in Tripoli on Friday morning.
According to the sources, clashes are ongoing in Abu Salim, Hadba, Ain Zara, and Bab Benghashir, as well as the airport road.
The sources also added that heavy military vehicles and tanks were seen on the roads in those areas.
Unconfirmed sources said that the clashes are between forces related to the National Salvation Government of the General National Congress and the forces of the UN-backed Government of National Accord, as the former attacked Qusoor Al-Diyafa (Guest Palaces) where the GNA forces are located.
According to other sources, the forces of Misurata city have moved their military might on the way to Tripoli to get rid of what they call “the government of treason” in a reference to the GNA.
