Haftar and Al-Serraj arrive in UAE on separate formal visits
The Prime Minister of the UN-backed Government of National Accord and the Head of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Serraj, arrived in UAE on Monday to meet with the Emirati officials, according to the Bawabet Al-Wasat news website.
Al-Serraj’s arrival comes on the same day on which Khalifa Haftar, the commander of the eastern Operation Dignity forces arrived in Abu Dahbi.
“Field Marshall Khalifa Haftar arrived in Abu Dahbi to meet Sheikh Mohammed Ben Zayed upon his invitation.” The media office of Operation Dignity wrote on Monday.
According to many sources, this “obviously prearranged” coincidence can mean that the two Libyan officials could have been summoned by the UAE to sit on one table and dialogue about some sort of reconciliation or settling down of issues.
Haftar refused early last February to meet with Al-Serraj in Cairo as part of the Egyptian initiative to resolve the Libyan political crisis.
