GNU Launches 100M Dinar Initiative for Tarhuna Development

Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, Prime Minister of Libya’s Government of National Unity, has announced the establishment of a development agency for Tarhuna with an allocated budget of 100 million Libyan dinars.

The announcement came during his official visit to the city, where he met with the Tarhuna Municipal Council.

The agency will oversee urgent infrastructure improvements and development projects under the “Return to Life” initiative. During the council meeting, Dabaiba instructed the Administrative Centers Development Agency to secure a temporary facility for medical services while the Tarhuna Teaching Hospital undergoes maintenance work.

The Prime Minister’s visit included tours of flood-affected areas in central Tarhuna, where he extended condolences to the Al-Thabit family of the Al-Mazawgha tribe, who lost three family members in a flood-related incident when their vehicle was swept away in a valley. The government pledged support for affected families and promised preventive measures against future flooding.

During his visit, Dabaiba inspected a mass grave site in the city. In subsequent statements on the X platform, he referenced past atrocities, stating, “We will not forget those heinous crimes committed against our people,” and pledged to pursue justice against those responsible for what he termed “death columns that brought devastation and destruction to this good land.”
