The spokesman of the German Army has revealed that the German Navy forces have sent “elite forces – frogmen” to off the Libyan coast in order to stem the arms delivery for the IS militants in the country.

On Wednesday, the spokesman of the German Defense Ministry told the German News Agency that the Navy frogmen are highly needed in the mandatory inspection processes aimed at the dubious ships passing through the Libyan waters.

“Our frogmen will intervene once the ships’ crews declined to cooperate.” The German Defense Ministry’s spokesman added.

This new step comes as part of the EU Operation Sophia that has deployed a number of navy ships and forces off the Libyan coast, western Tunisian coast up to Sicily island in southern Italy.
