EU Commissioner confirms Europe’s readiness to support the reconstruction and reconciliation in Libya
The EU's commissioner confirms after a visit to Libya that the European Union is fully prepared to support Libya in establishing a democratic and peaceful state
Ylva Johansson, European Union Commissioner for Home Affairs, has affirmed the EU’s preparedness to support the Libyan democratic process and the Government of National Unity in nation-building, stabilization, reconstruction, and reconciliation.
Johansson emphasized in tweets during her visit to Tripoli that it would be better to take tangible and practical steps to control migration and borders completely, and that “we look forward to expanding cooperation efforts with Libya.”
According to the European Commissioner, there is a need to improve conditions in Libyan prison centers and to respect human rights.
“We have a variety of capabilities that we may activate at the request of the Libyan Government across a wide range of areas,” Johansson said.
