Emergency state in Al-Wahat over ISIS attacks on key oil fields
A security source in Al-Wahat district’s operations room confirmed that the state of emergency has been called in the city’s oil fields and strategic projects in both Al-Wahat and Al-Sareer districts.
The source added on Wednesday that ISIS militants, who attacked vital locations in Al-Sareer district, remain an eminent threat to the locations because they positioned themselves in the desert, which makes it difficult to see them.
“The state of emergency has been called for by the city’s operations room as a precaution for any possible attack ISIS would likely launch.” Added the source.
On Tuesday, an armed group, believed to be affiliated with ISIS, attacked the river location in Al-Sareer and Al-Shula districts killing four of the Oil Facilities Guard members.
