Der Spiegel: Europe plans to use Libya’s land to create huge detention camps for immigrants
The daily German newspaper, Der Spiegel, disclosed that European countries are planning to make huge detention camps for refugees and illegal immigrants on the Libyan soil.
Der Spiegel stated that this plan comes as a precaution for the massive influx of immigrants who are expected to use the Libyan shores as a stepping stone to reach Italy in summer.
The German newspaper said the information was obtained from an “official European document” of 17 papers that was distributed to the 28 EU countries and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini.
Der Spiegel reported that the document show that there is an upcoming deal to be made with the UN-backed Government of National Accord like the one made between the EU and Turkey.
