Deputy Interior Minister in Libya surrenders to eastern strongman Haftar
The Deputy Interior Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA) in Benghazi Faraj Egayem has been reported as surrendered to the military police of Marij city under the command of Khalifa Haftar, the commander of Operation Dignity and who is based in the same city, sources reported to Bawabat Al-Wasat news website.
The website added that Egayem will be handed over to the military governor of the eastern region, Abdelrazik Al-Nathori.
“This comes after the intervention of military officer Wanis Bukhamada, and the GNA member Ali Al-Gotrani, who will drive him to the office of Alnathori.” The website wrote.
Since early Saturday, clashes erupted in Egayem’s headquarters in Budzera in Benghazi and also in Berses, where he was reported to have been located after Friday’s attack that killed three of his guards and wounded over seven.
