Chinese company to acquire Tunisian cement factory

Cement factory near Tunis set to be acquired by a Chinese manufacturer in a landmark $100 million investment deal

The Chinese Ambassador to Tunisia, Wan Li, has announced that a Chinese cement manufacturer plans to complete the purchase of a cement factory in Tunisia next week. The investment is valued at over $100 million.

In an interview with Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP), Ambassador Li stated that this represents the largest Chinese direct investment in Tunisia in recent years. He noted that the investment reflects China’s confidence in the Tunisian market.

According to Li, the Chinese company intends to modernise the facility by implementing new technologies and upgrading equipment. These improvements are expected to increase productivity and efficiency whilst reducing environmental impact. The ambassador mentioned that the factory’s location near the Tunisian capital gives it strategic importance.

Ambassador Li suggested that this acquisition could lead to additional Chinese investments in Tunisia. He added that China encourages its companies to explore Tunisian investment opportunities, despite their current limited familiarity with local market regulations.
